More of the same…

I gotta say the whole chest piece with a sacred heart with wings has kind of been overdone! Albeit, a perfect piece for that area, man, its everywhere. So when my client gave me the opportunity to shake it up, i had to seize the opportunity. It seemed like this version of tattooing has kind of become my thing around the shop… The amount of requests for it are stacking up! But, You wont hear me complaining about it. These are really fun and rewarding tattoos… KEEP THEM COMING!!!

Sharpie’d the wings in and stenciled the heart. The heart was stenciled because it was inspired by the clients own design!IMAG0237 Next session should finish this piece up! We may take one more session to tighten everything back up and saturate the tattoo properly!
Cannot wait to get back on this piece!

What does the fox say?

So lately I have been given the opportunity to do a newer fun style of tattooing that I feel, much like viral videos, is getting more and more popular! Its this new loose “watercolor” style of tattooing. Now, I’m not saying that I am a pioneer of any sorts. This abstract style has been around for quite sometime now! I have just recently joined the party. Anyways, this style is really fun and I cant wait to do some more of these tattoos!

Now, lets talk about this tattoo! For starters, my client travelled from Utah to come get this tattoo. Not only is that a flattering gesture, it also puts a lot of pressure on the both of us to try to hammer out such a large tattoo in one session! So my client was a Criminal Defense attorney in need of a way to express her love for the outdoors. Particularly the Grand Teton National Forest. She had sent me some photographs of some of her adventures and this is what I came up with! ENJOY!

Here is a more detailed image of the fox and oak leaves! I had a lot of fun lining out the Oak Leaves!!! FoxWatercolor Close

New Wave of Tattoos

October 8, 2013 9:07 am

It has been a while since i have blogged on this site, which usually is a good thing. It usually indicates that I am too busy to post!!! And That is not a bad problem to have! The shop (www.thehonorablesociety.com) seems to be picking up as well. With recent spots on some reality TV and with a couple of apparel companies business is good!

Recently, I have been asked to do a lot of “new age” tattoos! I’m not sure if there is a name for these kind of tattoos but Ill go ahead and call it watercolor tattoos or painted tattoos. The concept is simple: Tattoo like you were painting with actual paints and brushes in lieu of the ink and needles. The tattoos are colorful and loose and thus far, these tattoos are fun and guarantee that the tattoo is always custom. Which is something I strive for!

This was a concept of a client, that I had previously tattooed. She has an affinity for sharks and really non traditional, stencil-esque, abstract types of art. So we mashed all of thos parts together and came up with this free handed shark!

I am really happy with the way the tattoo turned out and just wish I was better at taking photos! I look forward to doing more of these types of tattoos! (BTW it is late, so sorry for the imperfections in grammar and such)

Close up detail of the brown bear cover up… this has been a fun one. The eyes are blue for a reason. I know its not anatomically accurate.

Reference for size of the bear’s head… You can also see part of the oak leaves that helped cover up a set of flags the client already had.

Brown bear and Conejo valley rabbit. You can also see the 101 freeway sign.

A closer shot of the details in the rabbit and some of the acorns and oak leaves.

Butterfly… Covered with a flower and butterfly

So this client came in with this tiny butterfly that looked nothing like a butterfly. So much So, that my client didn’t even know that the butterfly she had was actually not a side profile.

This was her only tattoo So we made sure that it was something that was legible and precisely what she desired.

I think we successfully covered this guy.
